12x12s and a trip

These two pages were easy to put together from another sketch I found last year and copied into my idea notebook. I’m so proud of myself for using some of the new things and some old stuff that I had in drawers!

This is me, sometime in the 70’s – early 80’s. Both pictres were taken by one of my aunts at the annual Easter get together. My dad’s one of 12, and all of his siblings would bring their kids and spend the whole day eating, laughing, running round cracking confetti eggs (cascarones), and just having fun. I had no idea these pictures even existed ’til we were working on a big project for a family reunion, and were going through old pictures. I had to make copies of these!

The Cool Caribbean cardstock was stamped with Fancy Pants Pollen stamps in Brilliance Ink. The paisley paper is Crate Merry Go Round. Primas are Sprites, and are attached with buttons, brads, ribbon, and stuff from my stash. There are a few Queen & Company flower sequins in there, too. The “Easter” letters are an Ellison die cut alpha “Sassy Serif” that I picked up at Target for a steal. The “fun” are from a Heidi Swapp Costco find, and are adhered with Stickles. Ribbon is from Michaels.

Same layout, different stuff. Paper is Fancy Pants, Key Lime Pie Charming, The words and flowers at the top are rubons, and the swirly is from the Pollen set, stamped with Dew Drops, I think. I trimmed some of the flowers with a craft knife, and then added some sparkle with Stickles. There’s more sparkle from the rhinestones I glued on here and there:

Like I’ve mentioned before, I tend to get into something, and do a lot with the same thing. Stamps, colors, layouts, food, you name it!

Saturday after Chan’s karate class, we decided since the weather’d been so yucky during the past week, it would be fun to head down to Port Aransas for Sand Fest. Weather reports said it would be partly cloudy, so we made a quick reservation, threw some clothes into a suitcase, and hit the road for the Texas coast. It was a bright clear drive. . . until we got closer to the Gulf. No matter! We looked forward to checking out all of the sandcastles this morning. We’d never been to a sandcastle building contest, and were so excited. Then we woke up.

Out the window? Very overcast skies and a wet parking lot. Sticky humidity, too. After breakfast, we took the short drive over the bridge to see if Sand Fest was still going on. To our suprise, it was. We were SOAKED by the time we walked the beach and back, but had a great time. Here’s a few of my favorite shots from this morning. Enjoy!

Probably my favorite. This thing was HUGE! We were all in awe that those that were standing were still intact after all the rain and wind!
