It’s a Rubber Romance

I guess you’d expected nothing less from a stamper’s blog, huh? From the moment I saw this card created by Taylor, I knew I’d want some of these lovely ladies. Then Jami created this card set, and I was a gonner! I figured when I went to SoCal in the spring (in a few weeks!), I’d beg one of the girls to schlepp me to a stamp store so I could bring some home. Hey, I need souveniers as much as the kids do, right?

I was very excited when I was doing some late night shopping, and saw the Rubber Romance girls I hadn’t thought about since last fall. I ordered a few of these. Okay, you probably would like the truth. . . I ordered more than a few. . . more like four or five. It would have been more, but I forgot what I ordered, and placed another order the next day (’cause Joy was still entering them during my first order and I didn’t want to miss out) for some of the same stamps! DOH! Thankfully they caught it! I had a sweet package from Eclectic Paperie on Monday afternoon, and had a little time to play last night. I needed to make a card for a dear friend’s mom, and thought this image was perfect.

Here’s the finished card:

I had a few scraps of My Mind’s Eye Magnolia paper (Floral/Teal Dream) on my stamping table, and thought I’d do a little paper piecing to dress Julia. (Jeanne and Ellen both have fantastic tutorials for this, so if you’re unsure how it works, check the links.) I inked the stamp with Palette Noir on Shimmery White, and again on the MME paper, then closely trimmed the dress and handbag from the patterned paper. Both were adhered to the Shimmery White image with a Sakura Quickie Glue pen.

She was watercolored with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and an Aquapainter, and I added a sketchy floor with a Micron pen. Some shading was done with a Copic marker, and a little bit of shimmer was added with a GellyRoll Stardust pen.

“Hello” is from Paper Tray, and was added after everything dried.

The card itself is simple, with a bit of the same Magnolia paper from the dress and bag behind the layered image. (Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal, Not Quite Navy). I finished it with three tiny, sparkly teal hearts. You can get the A Muse Creative Candy here.

Hope y’all have a great evening. Make a card today and send it to someone. It does make a difference, and you don’t need a reason . . . Thanks, Emily, for the reminder.

Beautiful card, Jenn! The same paper is laying on my table too. I was ready to work with it and then pushed it aside to finish the scrapbook pages first.
