I admit it. I am a Target junkie. I adore the way I can walk through the store and find stuff that I need and get inspired, too! The color combinations on all of their signs and ads are so fresh and fun, and you just can’t help but be happy when you’re walking down the aisles, checking stuff out! Today was no different!
I brought home a lamp for my newly-painted and newly-linened bedroom, candles that smell like margaritas, a cute springy green top, some chips and dip, some ribbon, and oh yeah . . . the cleaning stuff I’d actually gone in for! Anyway, back to the FUN stuff I bought!
I love how Target has a bunch of kraft paper and fabric journals and boxes and stuff in different colors. Last year, they had Cool Caribbean, and I bought a bunch of those (and naturally, all the other colors they had, too). This afternoon, I hit the office supply aisle, and what did I find? Bunches of journals in Purely Pomegranite. I had to get a few, of course, and then had to work on this little project while the idea was still in my brain.

I started with a 6″ x 6″ kraft journal from Target that I’d wheeled in Wild Wasabi. Since I’d already made one petal at Bunco on Monday night (one of the ladies is a stamper and is very excited about the new catalog, so I had to show her how to use the new stuff!), I just had to do a couple more! All of the chipboard petals were inked (direct to pad, I’m super lazy!) and set aside to dry. Then I stamped the paisley petal on Whisper White, cut those out, and adhered them to the cardstock with Scotch Tacky Adhesive. The leaves were inked with Wasabi, and then doodled on with the gel pen.
I glued a strip of ribbon down along the seam, and then adhered all the petals and leaves, again with Scotch Tacky Adhesive. The center of the flower was made the same as the petals, but I added some pleated narrow organdy (cover back of chipboard with Sticky Strip, and pleat as you go!), a blingy brad, and then adhered the whole thing with a big ol’ glue dot. After all that was placed, I added Stickles here and there for some extra shine.
All of the other things are pretty straightforward, so I won’t bore you all with the details. I can’t wait to fill this with notes and sketches – it’s already in my purse and will be a huge improvement over my current note situation (scribbles all over the backs of crumbly receipts and envelopes and sticky notes galore)!
Here are all the supplies:
Stamps: Pick a Petal, Label Classics, Typeset Upper & Lowercase, Three for You, See You Around jumbo wheel
Ink: Purely Pomegranite, Wild Wasabi
Cardstock: Whisper White
Accessories: Trio Flower punch, Ice Circle Rhinestones, Blossoms & Basics Chipboard, Narrow White Organdy, Sticky Strip, Large Glue Dots, Making Memories “Cheeky” stitched ribbon (perfectly coordinates with Wild Wasabi), green Swarovski crystals, White Signo Gel Pen, Scotch Tacky Adhesive, Stickles

Wow, this journal is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I sure have seen a lot of neat things made with the Pick A Petal set. Looks like it will need to go on my wish list.
Cute! Isn’t it interesting how the in colors are really in everywhere? I always think that is so cool and amazing! Can we place orders with you now? My name is spelled… “G E E T A” and it rhymes with Britta. π
Very cute! I need to do something like this. I’ve already filled up my other journal that I made and it’s definitely time for a new one.
Great job on the journal! And, thanks for the warning! I won’t be going down that aisle since I don’t have Purely Pomegranite and won’t be getting it… at least not for a while. No, I didn’t say that! I said I’m not getting it. I don’t need it… I don’t want it… I don’t even like it! (did I convince anyone yet??)
This is fabulous! I have to make one of my own!

This is adorable! The flower is the perfect size for the journal. I got a bunch of journals from the $1 spot so maybe I’ll have try this idea out. I LOVE that it has my name on it too. LOL!
Cute, cute, cute! You must have a pretty big purse. HA!
I do, Sue! Come summertime, I always have extra junk to lug around. I have a big basket-y purse from Brighton that I can fit my camera and a bunch of other stuff in, too!
Great idea…I actually have one of those is red…it’s suppose to be a baby journal for my now one year old. π
Are you and Michelle Wooderson sharing ideas via ESP? π I too have been making notes on the backs of receipts, and so I need to make one of these for myself! I have one of the orange versions of this notebook series, and I hope they don’t stop making them abruptly, like Target can be known to do. Thanks for sharing…
That journal rocks, Jenn! I love the new colors on it, and the Pick a Petal is perfect! The ribbon and bling look super as well! (Wish I could make it to Target more. I love it too.)

This is awesome, I’d say more but I would just be repeating myself…this is awesome *grin*
This is just awesome. Ok, I’m sold on this set now.
Jenn,
Great looking journal. Two years ago,I bought these same journals and gave them out to all the females that went on a cruise with my husband and I. I told them to journal what they did each day as a special rememberance. I only stamped their initials on the front cover. Yours is definately prettier.
Sue
Too funny…I just stamped one of these the other day myself. I’ve only gotten the black knowing I can match it. Good to know the pink matches Pomegranate!!
I just love what you come up with…I am always amazed at the color combos that you do. Brilliant!!!
White out the last “n” and you can send it to me!
Haha……….
