Show some lovin’

to a new papercrafter! Meet our buddy Robert, and check out what he’s sporting – a camo ball cap, a glittery 5 o’clock shadow, and a set of cards he helped make! Doesn’t he look happy (or scared that I might actually post this on the blog as I told him I would! Hey, he asked if I’d blog him. . . ) and proud?

robertcard.jpg

I’ve mentioned Red a few times here and there . . . he’s Mike’s best friend and pretty much a part of our family. A few weeks ago, he asked if I’d create some simple Christmas cards for him to send to his clients over at Preferred Landscape. He deemed this card too girly, so it was back to the drawing board. One night he came over and made dinner for us, and while he cooked, I watercolored one of these gorgeous Magenta images that I picked up at my local stamp store. He liked it, so I stamped a bunch and watercolored for hours and hours.

When Robert and his girlfriend Nohely came to visit this evening, little did they know they’d be part of the assembly process! Everything was already watercolored, so all that was left was to trim & glitter them, and then put the card together. Here’s what they look like up close (already boxed up for him to take to work . . . I couldn’t let him take them in anything other than a pretty stationery box from Papertrey!)

cardalone.jpg

Hope his clients will enjoy them – I think the botanical image is perfect and so appropriate! I also think he did a great job – he’s the one who adhered everything after Noey glittered the images. Great job, Red. You & Noey can come stamp with me any time!

If you want to read about what stamps were used, click for more!

Stamps: Magenta (no name on block, just a penciled number 20025-0) holly and Stampin’ Up! “Holiday Greetings” from Sincere Salutations

Ink: Palette Burnt Umber for image & sentiment, Close to Cocoa, Old Olive + Always Artichoke, Real Red + Ruby Red, and Bordering Blue for watercoloring

Paper: Fabriano Mediovalis flat notecards I picked up accidentally when in Portland. They’re great for stuff like this!, Always Artichoke, Ruby Red

Accessories: Sakura Quickie Glue, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, Pop-up glue dots

Noey didn’t leave empty handed. She did some shopping from the card stash, and then we whipped up a tag for her Secret Santa at work using Fancy Pants & Papertrey stamps, Always Artichoke, Fired Brick distress ink, vellum, and some Prima swirly crystals:

All in all, a fun night!

Now . . . for the reason I’ve been missing for a month! My daughter turned 8 and all she’d asked for all year long was a puppy. After much deliberation, we caved in and adopted this sweet 7 month old. Meet Marly!

meetmarly.jpg

She’s just the perfect dog for us, and we’re happy to have her as part of our family.Β  It’s been much fun going on walks and stuff, and we love that she’s not whiny, isn’t yappy, and is very well-behaved. She likes to sit at my feet in the office when I’m working on the computer or whatever, loves to fetch a ball, and absolutely LOVES Adrianna. The feeling’s mutual, ya think?Β  (This picture was taken the day I brought her home. I walked down to the bus stop after school was out, and you could have heard Adri squeal for miles, I’m sure!)

Thanks for looking, and I hope to be back soon with some more stuff to share!

jen–how kind of you to help your hubby’s friend come up with just the most classy business Christmas card ever! love it!

marly’s ADORABLE! if he has any pug in him, though, watch out for your food! pugs have eating disorders, i.e. they want food all the time and not just dog food! you don’t want a pudgy puggy! way to go on the gift Adri will never forget…
