The decline in my stamping & scrapbooking frequency’s been constant for a year or so. Too many other things going on, and I just haven’t made time for it as I wanted to. . . I always made time to pick up more stuff, of course, but couldn’t seem to find or make the time to actually use what I’d purchased! My papercrafting was pretty limited to Beate’s sketches and then when she took off. . . .I did, too! Yesterday, though, was different. I slept in a bit and while Mike & Red went out to the golf course, I stayed home with Adri and played in my newly clean and reorganized room. It was so good for me! I am embarrassingly behind in getting cards out to friends and was able to stamp multiples of several different cards and even do some altered stuff. It felt so good to be able to do something for fun and not out of obligation (you know, the “can you make 15 cards for me?” from Mom or the “hey, I need a gift card holder for the boss” from the husband). . . .
Here’s one of the cards from yesterday. It’s based on a layout I copycased from page 36 of the new SU! catalog. (Supplies follow after the page break if you’re interested.)
This is a gift card/certificate holder that I made at Mike’s request. Every year they get together and buy several gift certificates for local restaurants for the nursery owners. One restaurant still does traditional gift certificates, so I had to make something that would accommodate all sizes. I didn’t measure, but made a tri-fold holder that was kept shut with a hidden magnetic closure. The red truck holds special meaning for the owners – the nursery started out as a produce delivery-type thing years and years ago. They’ve rehabbed a truck just like the one the original owner (dad of current owner) used to deliver orders and it’s parked out in front with a bed full of seasonal color. I thought it would be cute to do a truck like it for the gift. . . . and this was the first year in the three or four that I’ve been doing this that I heard compliments and even “We need to do something special with this card” from the owners.
Hope you all have a safe and happy new year! For more info on the two cards posted, (and a Christmas picture) click for more!
