Flower

I always liked to color when I was a kid.

I loved getting new crayons before school started, loved stretching out on the floor with a new coloring book . . . Mom always colored on the floor with us (and does still with the grandkids). My dad, on the other hand, wasn’t allowed to color with me after he colored penguins green. What was he thinking, huh? Now, I love to color with my kids (not so much with the boy nowadays, though he does love the Copics for his Manga drawing/coloring) and I’m much more forgiving about color choices! And, I have a lot more coloring options than the Crayola 64-pack that I used to coddle when I was younger!

Anyway, when Beate emailed me yesterday and shared the Vera Bradley bag she is posting as an inspiration challenge, I knew just what I wanted to do. I received these stamps around Christmas last year and never mounted them . . . until today! After doing homework and TKD runs and getting everyone fed, I stamped a bunch of random flowers in Chocolate Chip craft ink on a half sheet of shimmery white cardstock, went to help my husband in the garage, and came back to color with some Copic markers. This seemed to take FOREVER to color, but ahhh, what fun that was!

Instead of covering up my hard work, I plan to stamp something inside. Or just leave it as a blank notecard and fill it with my own scribbles. Who knows. Maybe I’ll just keep it on my desk here and ogle it. You know how that goes, I’m sure!

Here’s a listing of the stuff I used –

Cardstock: Wild Wasabi, Purely Pomegranate, Shimmery White

Ink: Chocolate Chip Craft, plus a handful of Copic markers. I used this collection + a nice dark brown (I don’t remember which one). I also used a black Spica pen to add glitter and redefine the lines that got a little blurred.

Accessories: Threading Water Fiskars punch, beautiful green satin from one of Jody’s shares, Pomegranate + Chocolate are both SU!, sticky-back rhinestones are from Kaiser, and I used three colors (celery, pink, orange)
