A tutorial and a warning

First, the tutorial. We’re in the middle of a whole week of holiday-themed tutorials over on Splitcoast, and this is my offering, a paper pin. I’d played with these a few years ago after seeing some pins that Kelly Purkey made and shared at a Stampin’ Up! convention (see them here) and promptly pushed all the stuff to make them far back into my craft closet. Too much work, I said! So. . . Beate asked if I’d do a tutorial on paper beads and I got all the stuff back out and made a few. They are *much* too horrible to share. Seriously ugly things. I emailed her in a bit of a panic and she said, “Hey, do one of those pins and use UTEE.” And being the sweet person that I am. . . I said, “SURE!”

Here’s the finished pin:

I wrapped it up in a mini pizza box by Jen del Muro:

(which I reinforced with a piece of chipboard covered with patterned paper. I added a square of quilt batting and popped the pin in before tying it up.

I love the dimension here!

I *didn’t* love the burn. Here’s the warning: If you use UTEE and a melting pot (which really does give the best results, in my opinion), follow the directions on the package, be careful! . . . that stuff *hurts*!!

Happy crafting! All supplies are listed here.

Beautiful pin… BUT I am DYING to see the horrible/awful beads…. just a peek from the craft trash bin… PLEASE!

Don’t be embarassed though, I swear some days I have more craft trash than I have successful craft art, that’s why it’s nice to know sometimes other people have craft disasters too!

So you used UTTE. Did you use the 3 layers of CS also? Your pin is so inspiring, it is beautiful. I love the affect of the UTTE. Why did you have to use the melting pot? Thank you, Judy
