Flower

So. . .last night

In an attempt to clean up the ol’ stamp room so that I could actually find a counter or table to stamp on this weekend, I decided to print out a fresh retired list, and pull those off the shelves. Whoa, nelly! Check out this stack!

What is sadder than this stack (which is 2 1/2 rows deep) is that many of them are still brand spankin’ new. I always reach for the same sets it seems, and most of those have been moved into the “keep” pile. This year, I need to actually use what I buy! I’m really excited about getting a new catalog full of never-before-seen images, and finding some new old favorites. I know for sure I’ll need some new flowers and sentiments!

That’s what’s left! Crazy! I actually put all the retired sets back up on the shelf after seeing the nakedness. It reminded me of when I was a new demonstrator, and how pathetic I thought my collection was. Funny thing is, I only use a handful of sets, so I might as well limit my collection, right? But then. . . what do I do when I *need* a set and don’t have it? Aaaargh! It’s easier to just have it, right? Just in case? I know y’all feel the same way, right?

Anyway, now that I have a nice, clean stamping area again, I want to get to work on cards and little projects for my mom and mother-in-law, and a few grandmas and great grandmas, too. I also need to make something for my father-in-law as he’s being ordained a deacon in two weeks. I have a big list, and should get off of the computer and tackle it! Have a great weekend!

When I get home I’ll be doing the same thing. I have some sets I’ve barely used but I think I’ll keep them because I’ll use them SOME DAY.

Now that I’ve pulled my retired sets I have only two drawers of current stamp sets. Well, truth be told, they could all fit into one drawer! LOL! I do keep my BG and Monogram Alphas on a shelf so if I get desperate I can add those to my few current sets. *sigh*

WOW! I haven’t gone through my sets yet. I won’t have that many discontinued’s…but it’ll still be a bunch. I’m really excited about the new catty coming out too. We just have to be patient a little longer.

I thought I was bad!!!!!!! I guess if I put mine all together with the ones I have sold this year. I might be close. I held onto all the older ones until this year. Since blogging, I have found lots of other companies that have great stamps. I am very happy with what I have. You take the cake, woman!!!!!!

So, I’m not the only one who buys sets and then they retire before I get a chance to assemble them, huh? I think I have more retired and unmounted sets then I have current sets.

You know, I was thinking of signing up to be a demo after I settled into my new home. Boy am I glad I did’nt! I had a total of 14 sets retire and current 11 set. So after this list came out I have a total of 50 sets that are no longer current. I have no idea how to keep up. So I really feel for all of you demos!

Oh, Jenn, I feel your pain! I have 80 retiring, leaving about 50 I can still use to demo. OUCH!

  16. Posted May 5, 2007 at 3:07 pm | Permalink

I know how many I have that are retired but I cannot bring myself to take them off the shelves or even think about what all I am keeping (cause my list of keep’s will be greater than the list of get rid’s. Now where am I going to put them?) I have 134 retired sets and 32 wheels. I know what you mean about grabbing the same sets over and over. I will concentrate on accessories this year and a couple of sets (yeah, right!) As soon as I get that new cattie in hand, watch out cause I know that SU has something BIG planned. Don’t know what but they always out-do themselves!

I feel your pain! It was a sad night for me when I pulled all my retiring sets too. But you’re right – new rubber to look forward to.

    Take care!

It seems everyone was hit “hard” by this retirement list! I have some that are retiring that I’m not ready to give up…but I’m not a demo, so no pressure! ;o)

I, too, am looking forward to seeing what’s in the new catty. I think this time will be extra exciting!!

Oh I feel your pain! I just sat down this morning, with a cup of coffee of course, and went through the list. 42 sets! I’m so bummed. But hopefully I’ll love the new cattys!

Holy retired stamp sets Batman and your poor lonely sets! Love your stamp room though, it’s gorgeous.

I can so relate! I don’t own as many stamps sets as you, but I do own enough. I went through mine, and 33 sets are retiring, and 8 aren’t. I own 8 sets that will be current after the new catty come out. That sucks!! But I look forward to the new ones coming out, I just don’t look forward to how much I am going to have to spend to get a wide range of seasons, and occasions of stamps to demo with. 🙂
Oh the joy of it all!
