My life

I’m sure y’all are all (or have been) in the same boat. Crazy busy, always on the go .  .  .  such is life as a mom, right? As I was going through iPhoto searching for some pictures to scrapbook, I found this one that I snapped with a timer as we waited for an accident to clear. (No, Mom, I don’t take pictures when I am driving. You can stop freaking out now!)

I remember that I’d taken off early from work that day, and rushed to the other side of town in order to get the kids from school. Our weekends were full the whole month of October, and I so wanted to take them to a local church’s pumpkin patch, even if it meant some rearranging of stuff during the week.  Once we got there, we went off in search of the perfect pumpkins to decorate our front porch, and found quite a few that fit the bill.

I took a ton of pics, but this was one of my favorites, and I ended up printing it for our family scrapbook.  It really captured a piece of our lives, and I love that. I love that Chandler’s beeing a ham, probably saying cheese in his “Stitch” impersonation, and Adri’s just chilling out, hoping that we’d get home soon so she could go to the bathroom.  And me? I’m just happy that we snagged some fun mid-week and that the fender-bender was cleaned up with enough time for us to get home and get changed before karate class!  That, my friends, is my life!

It seems that lately, we’re always headed somewhere. It seems that we live in my car, and come home to eat, shower, and sleep.  I know that I’m exaggerating a bit, as the car is usually parked outside my office, and I am only in it for the short drive to work, and then back to pick up the kids and then run them all over creation, but it really does seem like the car’s our second home.  Looking at the inside door pockets and the floorboards, you’d know it’s true, or just figure I’m one messy mama!

Anyway, when I went to scrap this page, I wanted it to feel busy. So, I stamped all over with some Fancy Pants stamps, and then chose a chunk of some Scarlet’s Letter  paper that I liked and then slapped it down. I figured out where my matted photo would go,  and then applied rub-ons by 7 Gypsies (L I F E), Fancy Pants (Scroll under pictures) and Creative Imaginations (Circle at the bottom).  I added a few buttons, and will probably stitch them on or add some linen thread – seeing them naked is giving me the willies!

I love how this page illustrates this part of my life, and I need to do more like this. I need to tell more of the story behind the pics, too. It means that I’ll need to do some rearranging of my schedule, and make time to tell the stories behind the bajillion pictures we take. Know what, though?  I’m cool with that.

Hope you’re having a fabulous week, and that you get time to capture some of the everyday stuff that goes on in your world, too!

You totally inspired me to scrap my carpool. What a great way to remember a “lively” part of our everyday lives. I have the after school drive and they all have something to say, all at the same time. This will be a great page. Thanks Jenn!
