Altered Tins for Mom

momtins.jpg
My mom’s at a CASA training conference in Florida right now, toting these around. She came over to visit with the kids on Friday evening, and asked if I could make her a pretty notepad or something to take with her. I couldn’t just send her with a little legal pad, right?

The large tin is a DVD tin. I Xyron’d Basic Grey Perhaps (Beatrice) paper over the tin’s front. I cut a strip of the pinkish paper ( Basic Grey Dancing Shoes), Xyron’d that, and punched a hole where I wanted the flower. I removed the adhesive backing, attached the ginormous Prima daisy with a rhinestone brad, and stuck that where I wanted it. Next, I used the little “X” Xyron to add adhesive to the Making Memories rickrack (which I really should have done prior to sticking the flower on, ’cause I had to lift all the petals to get it down right!). Mom’s name is spelled with Making Memories glittery letter stickers.

Inside the tin is a trimmed down jr. legal pad that’s topped with the Basic Grey paper and more rickrack. I did an inside pocket and magnets, too, but didn’t take a picture. Check out Beate’s birthday tin if you want to get an idea of what that looked like.

The mini tin is a “business card” tin, but no business cards I have fit inside! Mom ended up filling it with gum, and it’s so cute for that! This one was done the same way as the big tin, but the Primas and rhinestone brad were stuck into a glue dot, and then adhered to the tin.

Mom called this morning to tell me that her coworkers want a bunch of them (perfect for holding sensitive notes), so I guess I’ll be working on those for a while! Ah, what would I do without family to keep me crafting? Probably have more time to do stuff I want to do, huh?! LOL!
