I think everyone knows someone who’s been touched by diabetes. There are people everywhere whose loved ones – mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, wives, husbands, sisters, brothers, daughters, sons, friends – have some sort of diabetes. Personally, I know plenty . . . my brother, mother, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles and cousins have been diagnosed as diabetics along with many friends and family members of friends. I’ve seen the way a diagnosis can affect every part of life, including insulin dependence, amputations, and just general inconvenience.
I’d love to see an cure someday.
The American Diabetes Association website has this on its Support the Cause page:
Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of the 20.8 million children and adults in the US who suffer from this life-threatening disease. The generosity of our donors is vital as we continue our efforts to search for a cure, help people with diabetes, and invest in the health of future generations.
Getting behind this cause is made easy for stampers everywhere with this sweet stamp set from Gina K. Designs’ Stamps for a Cause. Gina’s going to donate money from the sale of every stamp, dividing $7 per set sold equally between the American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, two organizations that are working on research to find better ways to treat diabetes and hopefully some day find a cure. Thank you, Gina, for designing such a sweet set, and for allowing me to be part of your efforts to support this great cause!
I got mine in the mail today and had to make a card with it (and participate in yesterday’s Featured Stamper challenge, too). This one is for my very supportive husband who loves mint chocolate chip ice cream. After coloring the scoop, I added chips with a marker. I might have to wait and give it to him when I have time to run to the store for some ice cream. Otherwise, I may end up going out in my jammies tonight so he can eat his favorite treat while he watches the college bowl games!
