TOUGH Little Dude

That’s my boy, through and through.
kickinit.jpg

This guy’s such a trooper, never complaining about pain or anything that bother him. He just keeps on doing whatever he needs to do. I think that’s why he’s so into his martial arts classes. I get such a kick (hardeeharhar) out of watching him (and Adri, too!) go through their workouts and practicing their forms.

As I’ve mentioned before, both kids are working towards their black belts. Chandler, though, is very much into all of the extra stuff that’s offered. He’s tried out for and made the Demo Team (check out their pregame performance on my first podcast!), is part of the group of kids who volunteer to help teach classes to younger kids, and is a member of the Black Belt Club. It’s a big time commitment, but he’s so dedicated, and that’s probably the most painful part of the procedure he had today. He won’t be able to work out for a week!

Supplies were minimal for this super simple and quick 12×12 page that I made over the weekend: Always Artichoke & Night of Navy Cardstock, and Heidi Swapp “journal” chipboard letters, and a signo gel pen.

I tend to do single rather than double-page spreads, and it’s out of my comfort zone to incorporate more pictures into my layouts. I love a big focal point, and LOVE having that one perfect picture for a layout. . .but sometimes I have a lot more than just one, and want to include them. I really like the way this page turned out!

The pictures were taken at a Black Belt Club special training class late last month. They learned how to use a bo staff and practiced kicks for a while before they got to do some board breaking. Since were were outside, I was able to be right there in the middle of things with my camera, and I got a TON of great shots of all the kids. None of MY kid actually breaking the board, but oh well! There’s always next time!

I am always in awe of kids that have the determination to perfect this art and who can kick and jump like this. You have every right to be a proud, proud momma.

I like your LO. Clean without a lot of flourish; it makes me want to focus on the pictures and journaling. Thanks for sharing; love these colors together!

    Chan rocks!
What a fun thing to be able to brag about
“Dude-I can do a flying kick and break a board”
Not too much can be cooler than that!!!

Fantastic pictures and page. How great that you caught Chan in the air. I hope he is feeling better already.
