Here come the Spurs!

That’s what Stan, the announcer, says just before they take the court at home games. I’m very supportive of our local NBA team and my husband’s obsession with them, and right now, I’m hanging out in the living room while the game 5 of 7 is on and Mike’s about glued to it. It’s the bottom of the third quarter, and the team’s down by 65-56. From here, I can look over the couch into what used to be my pretty, traditional dining room into what is now a very manly silver and black shrine to fitness and the Spurs. Even though it does look a bit jarring against my red living room walls and my mossy green kitchen, I’m cool with his obsession. After all, he’s pretty cool with mine!

I brought both of our loves together this evening in this 8 1/2″ x 11″ page. It’s jammed with so many more pics than I usually use on a layout, the area between the pics is off here and there, the journaling’s totally imperfect, and I’m liking it all!

I picked a several of my favorite images from the Spurs Game that Chan and the demo team performed at earlier this year, cropped them and just adhered them to the page wherever they fit, and journaled right on top. The dotted circles (7 gypsies self-inking) highlight some journaling here and there. Overall it was pretty fast and easy to put together. I’ll probably frame this one for Mike’s room.

Mike installed the bamboo flooring (I helped!) and put all the stuff up himself. He’s got autographs, jerseys, nicely framed shots from games, and a nice set of handpainted commerative championship basketballs. He’s hoping for another couple for his shelf this year. We still have more stuff to hang and to put up on the walls. He’s a collector, too!
